Why do you learn another language?
Last night an acquaintance asked me why I learn lots of languages. Is it for work or for fun? Then I wondered, do people think that language learning is a drudgery?
Why does anyone strive to be multi-lingual? Are there many jobs which require multi-lingualism from people who don't want to learn more languages? Internet, please enlighten me!

I think learning another language is a great and wonderful tool. It allows one to view life in a whole new way or a culture in a whole new way. It is a wonderful thing to know so it helps you communicate better with others if they dont understand another language other than their own.
victoira, I completely agree with you: learning another language opens up knowledge of the world around you. Pursuit of knowledge and understanding is the most rewarding reason to learn languages to me.
Why wouldn't you want to learn another language? It is one of my fantasy super-powers.
Привет всем! Учить другие языки - это интересно, всегда мечтал понимать о чём говорят иностранцы!
Good luck with learning Russian! Its too complicated language :)
I learn Russian because I got sick and tired of only being able to understand English! I find everything about Russia interesting, the history and literature especially, so it made sense to learn Russian. I actually do it for my degree, I figure language learning is a good career move too.
Привет! I love your blog! It is very similar to a blog I just started. You're right. You get a lot more out of learning a new language than just the words themselves!
I learn Russian every day to maintain my Russian website. The best way for me is to listen to radio in Russian. Sometimes I listen to a word that is not in my page and I immediataly add it to it.

It feels good when you understand what are said or written in other languages. Besides, I don't want to depend too much on the subtitles or translation.
